Healing Salve

Prep Notes

Having everything ready to go ahead of time makes this much easier.  Essential oils open and glass containers ready for the mixture with lids off.

Cooking Time

4+ cups, so much Salve!

  • 2 cups coconut oil *(infused with herbs if you prefer)
  • 1 cup beeswax pellets (more or less depending on desired consistency)
  • 1 tablespoon Vitamin E
  • 1/2 cup cocoa butter wafers
  • 1/4 cup shea butter
  • 20-30 drops of your favorite high grade essential oil **

*I use whatever dried herbs I had on hand: lavender, sage, juniper, pine, globemallow.

  • You can either use a crock pot on low to infuse herbs overnight or set a mason jar of herbs and coconut oil outside in the sun for 3-4 weeks.  The latter requires a bit more planning.

**I often use Frankincense, Lemon, Rosemary, Lavender, Ylang Ylang or Melaleuca.  Any combination will do

Using a double boiler (or a pot that can sit on top of another pot with boiling water)  add in coconut oil (draining herbs with a fine metal strainer if you infused your oil), then adding in beeswax, Vitamin E, cocoa butter wafers, and shea butter, continue stirring as they slowly melt in.  Add essential oils.

Have plenty of small glass containers ready and open.  I find it easiest to poor the mixture into a glass measuring cup then into the smaller containers, but you will need to move quickly as the mixture will start to harden right away.

Let mixer cool and Enjoy!

Always use organic when possible
